Costly CTP
January 18th 2009 05:49
I was recently shopping around for my green slip as my registration was due and was surprised at how expensive the quotes I was being given from the 7 insurers on the RTA's list were.
NRMA was the cheapest I found, but this was by a very small amount. AAMI, Allianz, CIC Allianz, GIO, QBE and Zurich all quoted me amounts I just did not want to pay. I already have comprehensive insurance, I don't want to spend an arm and a leg on my CTP!
The solution? Two small companies providing green slips, with all the perks of the expensive version, easy to obtain and quickly registered with the RTA:
Budget Greenslips (NSW and Qld only)
Really Long Link
Value Green Slips
http://valuegreenslips.com.au/
Both of these providers quoted me almost $200 less than all 7 of the other insurers. In the end, I paid $170 less than I would have had I gone with the NRMA. Thank goodness I shopped around beyond the RTA's list. If you're a loyal member of these companies and get a CTP discount through having other products through them also then use them if the price is right but if not, I'd recommend either Budget Green Slips or Value Green Slips. They are both far more economical alternatives for obtaining a CTP green slip for your vehicle.
Shop around for the best price before settling on your CTP, I certainly did and got a very good deal out of it.
