Do Not Disturb

...I am on facebook.
A 3AW presenter has missed her news bulletin as she was busy on Facebook.
After realising something was amiss a producer went to the newsroom, as the theme music for the bulletin had played, followed only by advertisements. There, he found that the presenter was on the computer. Although she stated that the reason for her delay was computer problems and quickly went to do the bulletin, which by that time, having only a 6 minute broadcasting slot, was mostly over, a source at the station reported that the IT team discovered she'd actually been on Facebook.
Other radio stations using that bulletin for their own news coverage, were greatly affected. 3AW staff have now been instructed that they may use Facebook for research purposes only. I'm not surprised, I know Facebook is fun and as friends have joked to me, quite addictive, but I don't think you're supposed to miss work because of it. It certainly shows just how much technology has embedded itself in our lives.
Facebook can include this in their marketing, with slogans like 'Don't go to work, stay on Facebook' and 'Need News? Use Facebook'. Okay, not quite like that but still, the article was too funny not to post about. I'm imagining a sign like 'Gone Fishing' but instead it will say...
