Have you ever been treated badly at work?

I gave my resignation in at work last week. It was also the day there was a performance review and I was spoken to before I gave them my letter, my good points were pointed out, areas in need of improvement were mentioned as I'm quite new to the job but overall I was doing well. Which considering I'm working a job I can't stand and was only choosing to do because it was all that was on offer as an internal transfer when I moved cities to study as a post-grad student and needed part time work, is pretty good. I enjoyed my previous role in the company a lot more and was very good at my job.
My letter of resignation was handed in around lunchtime, it was approved and I was told that I could make it my last day if I wanted because it wasn't busy at the moment. And have those idiots get out of paying me for the duration of my notice period? I don't think so. I refused the offer and said I would continue working until the date of my last availability prior to starting my new job.
I was allowed to work one more day then I was told I wouldn't be allowed to work at my duties at all until I finish and I'd be given other things to do. The excuse for this, apparently performance. Funny how there was nothing wrong with my performance prior to my giving them my resignation. Only one business day had passed since then. It was an excuse for them to use to force me to take the offer that was made to me when I gave in my resignation obviously. I was given nothing to do all day, I think I read every section of the company website because I was allowed to do nothing else, so that's what I did. I don't deserve though to be treated that way from anyone, especially a couple of loser managers with no education on power trips, so I took the offer and am rid of them.
It's a relief, and I guess they got what they wanted as well which is the bad part but I didn't have much choice unless I wanted to spend weeks in that place being treated like dirt and given nothing to do. Apparently they don't take kindly to people resigning at this company, oh and my not taking them up on their offer that would allow them to get out of paying me for the notice period must have annoyed them as well. It's just not worth putting myself through that. Now, the work ombudsperson on the other hand may be interested in hearing about how these losers treat company employees. I'm going to enjoy my short break before I start my new job and it is a good chance to finish up all my assignments as well as it is quite a busy time of the university semester!

Louie - They do, but because they gave me the choice to finish earlier, which I took, then they don't need to pay me. They make you sign it away basically. It's not fair, because their behaviour basically forces you to leave but it wasn't worth it to stay there. I'm just glad to be free of them! Thanks for stopping by!
