Its not often that politicos are on the forefront of trends, but here you have it, politics will dictate just how far people will go to be 'trendy."
We saw the revival of belligerance in such fashion/celebrity forerunners as Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton, and Brandon Davis; and now, international relations will follow suit. If the whole Paris/Brandon rant in which Ms. Lohan became the most notorious 'firecrotch' around wasn't an act of belligerance I ask you, what is? Vicious attacks on paparazzi have long since skirted the edges of acceptable, never quite making it to the 'trendy' stage, and yet, just weeks ago we saw the level of trendy belligerance upped, from spoiled-brat party antics, and young-professional drama onto the world stage.
That's right, I am referring to North Korea. In an explosive (pardon my pun) display of belligerance the most notorious of nation-states provoked the world to fight by testing a nuclear weapon on 9 October. Furthermore, raising the bar on just how belligerant one can be and retain trendiness, North Korea has now announced that it considers the sanctions , unanimously agreed upon in the United Nations Security Council as a 'declaration of war.'(see BBC for more) And we all thought Paris was the uber-feud starter...
Let's hope that this new political belligerance is as passing as the Hilton/Richie fight...
