Street View

Google Maps is a useful tool, but I'm not too sure about the street view function. I just zoomed in on my parents house, saw the car parked outside, that the neighbours were home as their car was parked outside and wondered why something like this is even necessary. It feels to me like an invasion of privacy. Voyeurism of sorts, hidden under the guise of usefulness.
These are private streets, private homes and private people who may be walking on the street and visible to millions of people from around the world. There is no need for this invasion into our homes and residential streets by Google Street View. Sure, they say that people's faces and licence plates will be blurred. The people I saw in the pictures, did not have their faces blurred, at least not to an amount that could be considered sufficient.
The idea itself is not wrong, but the practical effect of it really does seem like an invasion of privacy. Maps and street directions are useful, but in my opinion, Street View, is not.
