UNICEF, the Madonna Way

Can you call something a trend if its been done to death? I'm gonna go ahead and live on the edge, responding with a resounding YES YOU CAN!
Madonna famously made her statements with cone-bras, sex and sexuality on display, layered necklaces (which have since gone and come back in again!) and of course, never satisfied to be out of the 'trendy' loop, Madonna does it again and makes adoption trendy (in her own way.)
Now I know Meg Ryan has done it, and Sharon Stone, and Calista Flockhart, and a million other celebrity moms who have neither a partner or the time for pregnancy have adopted. And I am even aware that Angelina Jolie's famous stance on 'rainbow families' and rescuing under-privledged children the world over is more publicized than Coca-Cola, but good old Madge has re-invented the trend (as she does so well) and made it her very own.
Adopting a child who is an orphan--so very last year. Adopting a child with a living parent--oh so trendy. Nevermind the Jolie-Pitt commitment to their children knowing their roots. Nevermind the Jolie tattoos which forever embed the country of child's origin deep within her own skin, Madonna can bring her son back to his home, to his father, and to his community for a visit. Nevermind lavish sums of money going to charities to improve the life conditions of many. This is individualism. Its not even really adoption, its more like borrowing a child for publicity--oh, wait, did I just say that?! I meant helping an under-privledge child in need. This is charity re-conceptualized, as only Madge could re-think it.
